Patient & Carer

Welcome to the Oxford® Partial Knee System website

looking towards the future

Whatever reason you have to visit the Oxford® website, whether you, or someone you know is suffering from joint pain, we hope that this site will help you find the answers you are looking for.

A common reason for knee pain is osteoarthritis which effects on average 11% of people over 64 years of age. However, we would like to stress that though it may be a widespread disease it does not make the condition any less painful for the sufferer and deserves serious attention.

Developments such as the Oxford® Partial Knee eliminates the necessity to wait a long period of time before undergoing pain relieving surgery, thus the pain caused by osteoarthritis can soon be limited.

Contrary to a Total Knee Replacement, the Oxford® Partial Knee Replacement only replaces one side of the knee, this combined with a minimally invasive procedure helps reduce recovery time and postoperative pain for the patient, and the knee returns to a near normal function.

Though it is important to be well informed of your options, not all patients are suitable for a unicondylar knee replacement. Therefore, please remember that there is no substitute for professional consultation with your family doctor and orthopaedic surgeon. Please use our surgeon locator to help you find a local surgeon who has attended the special training courses organised by the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre.
