  • Most of the discomfort occurs in the first 12 hours after surgery.
  • Remove any obstacles in your home that may cause a fall.
  • It is important to get back in to daily activity as soon as possible as well as making sure you stick to the post-surgery exercise programme recommended by your surgeon to ensure a rapid recovery.

After surgery, patients will need to follow a regular low-impact exercise program. Most surgeons recommend regular activities that will help patients stay active and healthy while limiting excess stress on their new joints. Always follow your surgeon‘s recommendations regarding activity and exercise.
Choose a low impact activity

  • Surgeon Recommended exercise classes.
  • Regular walks.
  • Home treadmill (for walking).
  • Stationary bike.
  • Regular exercise at a fitness center.
  • Low-impact sports such as golf, bowling, walking, gardening, dancing, etc.

What not to do.

  • Do not run or engage in high-impact activities.
  • Do not participate in high-risk activities.
